NPM opened its third and latest manufacturing plant in Shah Alam in 1993 to coincide with its 25th anniversary. To date, NPM has four (4) manufacturing plants in Malaysia with two (2) in Shah Alam, one (1) in Johor Bahru and one (1) in Kota Kinabalu.

Only the finest raw materials go towards the making of Nippon Paint products. These are subject to the most stringent tests using the most advanced equipment to ensure consistency in product quality.

Our total commitment to research and development (R&D) is the key to our success in innovating. Nippon Paint is the world leader in anti-corrosion and chemical resistant technology. Over the years, we have made several major breakthroughs in the development of resins, pigments, additives and solvent as well as in the production technology itself.

Other areas of R&D include the development of new colour shades for future lifestyle trends by our Colour Design Centre. The annual international Automobile Colour Show which showcases the future colour trends for automobiles, clearly demonstrates how the twin roles of paint technology - beautification and protection - are backed by worldwide surveys on colours that are fashionbable, natural, traditional or classic favourites.

Particular emphasis is placed on the new generation Cathodic Electro-deposition (CED) in search of better throwing power and lower baking temperatures.

Nippon Paint's commitment to R&D has resulted in leading-edge architectural coating products that have the highest possible level of biological growth resistance, weatherability and alkaline resistance, among other relevant properties important to the protection of a building and the preservation of its appearance.
