Yes. Weatherbond^® Quartz is formulated for exterior walls exposed to strong sunlight, rain, humidity, dirt and changing weather conditions. It provides resistance against UV radiation, acidic and alkaline conditions, fungus, algae and efflorescence, making it suitable for Malaysia’s tropical climate. It can be applied to masonry, brick, plaster and fibreboard surfaces when used with the recommended painting system.

Exterior walls in Malaysia are continuously exposed to sunlight, rain, humidity, dust and pollution. UV rays can gradually weaken the paint’s pigments and cause colours to fade, while dirt may bond to porous or worn paint surfaces.

Peeling can also occur when the wall is damp, poorly prepared or coated without a suitable sealer. Existing cracks, chalky residue, fungus, algae and efflorescence should therefore be treated before repainting.

Quartz Technology creates a harder and more durable paint film that helps resist surface erosion, cracking and deterioration caused by outdoor exposure. The reinforced coating also provides protection against rain, UV rays, dirt, acidic pollutants and alkaline wall surfaces, helping maintain the wall’s condition and appearance for longer.

Remove loose or defective paint, chalky residue, dust, dirt, grease, fungus, algae and other contaminants. Repair cracks and uneven areas with Nippon CrackREPAIR 1000 Compound or another suitable exterior-grade filler, then sand the repaired areas smooth.

The wall must be clean and completely dry before painting. Nippon Paint recommends a moisture content below 16% and wall alkalinity below pH 9 for the appropriate painting condition. Refer Technical Data Sheet

Yes. A suitable water-based exterior sealer is recommended to improve adhesion, control uneven surface absorption and provide a stable base for the topcoat.

Depending on the wall condition, the sealer may be 8100 Weatherbond^® Sealer, 5100 Wall Sealer, 8000 Expresskote Sealer, Acrylic 5170 Wall Sealer or Hi-Bond Wall Sealer for powdery or skim-coated surfaces. Apply one coat of the appropriate sealer, followed by two coats of Weatherbond^® Quartz. Refer Technical Data Sheet

Remove all loose and peeling paint until a firm surface is reached. Repair cracks and uneven areas with a suitable exterior-grade filler, allow the repaired areas to dry, and sand them smooth.

Fungus and algae should be removed and treated with Fungicidal Wash. Efflorescence should be cleaned away only after the source of moisture or water seepage has been identified and resolved. Painting over untreated defects may cause them to return and damage the new coating.
