Weatherbond^® Ultimate Anti-Dirt

Self-cleaning exterior paint is generally designed to reduce how easily dirt and pollutants stay on the wall surface. Depending on the paint formulation, natural rain can then help loosen and wash away some of that build-up over time.

Yes. Weatherbond^® Ultimate Anti-Dirt provides excellent water resistance, helping minimise rainwater streaking on exterior walls. It is formulated for exterior masonry, brick, plastering substrates and fibreboard, making it suitable for walls regularly exposed to Malaysia’s rain and humid weather.

Exterior walls are continuously exposed to dust, airborne pollution, rainwater, humidity and other environmental contaminants. In Malaysia’s tropical climate, frequent rain can carry accumulated dirt down the wall and leave visible streak marks, while dust and pollution can gradually settle onto the painted surface.

Dirt tends to become more noticeable on exterior walls that are highly exposed to traffic pollution, airborne dust and rainwater run-off. For homes in Malaysian urban areas, this can include walls facing busy roads, boundary walls, façades near driveways and other surfaces directly exposed to outdoor pollutants.

Areas below roof edges, ledges or openings may also show visible streaks where rainwater repeatedly flows down the surface, while shaded and damp sections can be more prone to algae or mould growth.

Yes. Weatherbond® Ultimate Anti-Dirt features MicroBlock Technology for resistance against fungus, algae and mould. It also provides excellent resistance to alkali and efflorescence.

For best results, existing fungus, algae or efflorescence should not simply be painted over. The affected surface should be properly treated, cleaned and allowed to dry before repainting. Refer Technical Data Sheet

Remove loose or defective paint, powdery residue, chalk, dust, fungus, algae and other contaminants. Areas affected by fungus should be treated with Fungicidal Wash.

Cracks and uneven surfaces should be repaired with Nippon CrackREPAIR 1000 Compound or a suitable exterior-grade filler and sanded smooth. The wall must then be thoroughly cleaned and completely dry before painting.

For the recommended painting condition, wall moisture should be below 16% and alkalinity below pH 9. Refer Technical Data Sheet

Yes. The recommended coating system includes one coat of a suitable sealer, followed by two coats of Weatherbond® Ultimate Anti-Dirt.

Depending on the surface condition, recommended options include 8100 Weatherbond Sealer, 5100 Wall Sealer, 8000 Expresskote Sealer, Acrylic 5170 Wall Sealer, or Hi-Bond Wall Sealer for powdery or skim-coated surfaces.

The appropriate sealer depends on the substrate and its condition, so consult Nippon Paint if you are unsure which system is most suitable. Refer Technical Data Sheet

Existing dirt, grease, dust and other foreign matter should be thoroughly removed before repainting. Loose or defective paint and powdery residues should also be removed so the new coating can be applied onto a sound surface.

After cleaning, allow the wall to dry completely before applying the recommended sealer and two coats of Weatherbond^® Ultimate Anti-Dirt. Refer Technical Data Sheet
